Look & Learn

Reading in Bed Without Pillows

Like running with scissors, reading in bed without pillows was rightly frowned upon. Never fear...

Hamblin glasses were designed in 1936 to make it easier for people to read in bed. The periscope-like invention used mirrors that allowed wearers to see at a 45° angle so that they could lie on their backs and read without having to strain their necks. While this particular model never took off, numerous spinoffs of the same idea still exist and are available, for example, to enable the bedridden and fans of late-night TV to watch their favourite programs from the comfort of their beds.

The running with scissors problem still hasn't been resolved.
This week's Look & Learn is brought to you by... Works That Work.com.

Works That Work was an international magazine publishing content about the impact of creative ideas in everyday life.

Something to read with your new Hamblin glasses!

Eat That Frog | Brian Tracy (no relation to the Tracy Island Tracy's)

There's an old saying that if the first thing you do each morning is to eat a live frog, you'll have the satisfaction of knowing that it's probably the worst thing you'll do all day.
Using 'eat that frog' as a metaphor for tackling the most challenging task of your day - the one you are most likely to procrastinate on, but also probably the one that can have the greatest positive impact on your life -
Eat That Frog! shows you how to zero in on these critical tasks and organize your day.
You'll not only get more done faster, but get the right things done.

Here's a thing. The 25 most iconic book covers in history. Ever!

Honestly, I'd choose a very different set of "the most iconic 25 book covers in history", but what would be on your list?

The typographic joke repository

A priest, a pastor and a rabbit go to donate blood.
The nurse asked the rabbit “what’s your blood type?”
“I am probably a typo” says the rabbit.
