British Summer Time has arrived! But before you don your Bermuda shorts... why do we move our clocks about in spring and autumn?
The principal reason is to get the most out of the daylight hours. The first clock change was introduced by the German government during the first world war as a means of saving energy - moving the productive daylight hours meant the less electricity was required. Many European governments followed suit, including Britain, and so was born BST. The current system has been in place since 1971.

Please send in news of births, deaths, marriages, christenings; dates for dinner dances, pig bingo, etc; or, indeed, any useful and/or entertaining links for inclusion in the newsletter. Films to watch, Instagram goodness, creative website links, books to read...in fact anything you'd like to share with the rest of the course.
